Why will my Social Security number be needed?

If you are awarded the scholarship, the funds will be paid directly to your school. The information will be needed to deposit the money in your student account. This number will not be used for any other purpose. 

Who can write a letter of recommendation for me?

A few examples are employers, co-workers or religious leaders. 

Will any items I submit be returned?

No. All submissions become property of Celebrate Differences. Please do not submit anything that you want back. 

When is the deadline for applications?

All applications must be postmarked on or before May 31, 2010. 

How will I know if my packet was received?

You will receive an e-mail or letter confirming that your packet was received. Please do not call about your application. 

When will I find out if I will be awarded the scholarship?

You will receive an e-mail or letter informing you that you were awarded the scholarship no later than July 30, 2010.  

Will this scholarship be available next year?

Yes. The scholarships will be awarded on a yearly basis. The amount of the scholarship will be determined based on the donations received for the year. 

If I do not receive the scholarship this year can I reapply again next year?

Yes. All individuals are eligible to apply every year as long as the eligibility criteria are met. 

If I received the scholarship this year, can I reapply next year?

Yes. If you were awarded the scholarship this year, you are eligible to reapply as long as the eligibility criteria are met.  You will be considered as a new applicant. 

Who can apply for this scholarship?

Any individual with a disability, defined as having a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities.
